4 days in San Pedro de Atacama

This is a program in which we visit traditional tourist routes in the most beautiful spots of the Atacama desert and San Pedro area.

Day 1

Pick up from the Hito Cajon Bolivia / Chile border. Private transfer, english spoken driver. Trip to San Pedro de Atacama (Around 1 hour).

Day 2

GEYSER DEL TATIO (Includes: breakfast)

Early morning departure to the high Andes, to visit the geothermal area of Tatio geysers.

 

Located at more than 4,500 meters above sea level, the Tatio Geysers offers an impressive show at dawn of each day. Most days it is possible to see the chimney of steam and jets of water that emerge as columns in a surreal phenomenon, but thanks to differences in temperature it is possible to see. Surrounded by Andean volcanoes in a ghostly landscape awaits the dawn that illuminates a unique landscape.

Afternoon

MOON VALLEY ON THE TRADITIONAL WAY (Includes: snack)

Pick up from the hotel at 15.30 hrs.

 

We left from San Pedro de Atacama to tour the Cordillera de la Sal, entering the Valle la Luna, named after Father Le Paige, a Jesuit archaeologist who explored this region when he was still off the tourist routes.

 

When crossing its valleys and dunes it is possible to observe the characteristics that probably led the priest to name it that way.

What we’ll see: the Tres Marias, the Great Dune and the Amphitheater, the main attractions of the Valley of the Moon.

What to bring: personal water, trekking shoes, long pants, long sleeves shirt, sunglasses, hat, sunscreen, camera.

Day 3

MISCANTI & MEÑIQUES: THE ALTIPLANIC LAGOONS (Includes: lunch)

Located in the middle of the Andes, the high plateau lagoons provide a beautiful spectacle reflecting the snowy peaks in its waters. Habitat of numerous mammals and native birds, it is possible to find among others, culpeos foxes, vicuñas, saplings and other Andean wild animals.
On the way it is also possible to stop to see old villages that offer a sample of the local way of life.

 

A stop at the Salar de Atacama nesting place (spring – summer) of three species of flamingos and the extremely salty environment in which they live.

Includes: Picnic-lunch, entrance fees.

What to bring: Water, camera, hat, long pants, shoes with a close toe and heel, sun block, small backpack (just if it is necessary).

Day 4

Transfer to the airport. Private transfer, English spoken driver (1,15 hours of trip)
