4 days in San Pedro de Atacama

This is a program in which we visit non tourist routes (crowded) but includes the most beautiful spots of the Atacama desert and San Pedro area.

Day 1

Pick up from the Hito Cajon Bolivia / Chile border. Private transfer, spanish spoken driver. Trip to San Pedro de Atacama (Around 1 hour).

Day 2

CACTUS VALLEY – CARDONES HIKE (2 HOURS HIKE)

9.00 a.m. Pick up from hotel.

 

Cardones is a kind of cactus that grow very slowly in such a special conditions.

This afternoon we will walk in between them, discovering all the beauty of a miracle in the atacameña’s pre puna. Going down in a narrow canyon from around 4 kms, jumping in this stream, and discovering the native wildlife and all the history of the first people in Atacama desert.

Includes: Snack and water.

What to bring: personal water, trekking shoes, long pants, long sleeves shirt, sunglasses, hat, sunscreen, camera.

Afternoon

Valle de la Micro – Moon Valley (2 hours hike)

15.30 hrs. Pick up from hotel.

 

Arrival to the Mirador de los Achaches by car, from here we start the hike of approximately two hours, along the side of the greater Duna, from where you can see the Valley of the Moon, and the formations of the Cordillera de la Sal.

 

Return to San Pedro around 13.00 hrs.

Includes: Snack, water, entrance fees.

What to bring: personal water, trekking shoes, long pants, long sleeves shirt, sunglasses, hat, sunscreen, camera.

Option 2

HORSE RIDING on Mars VALLEY” (3 hours)

3 hours riding by the labyrinths of the Death Valley, small trails through the impressive dunes, with gorgeous landscapes and views of volcanoes and the Salty Mountain Range. On the way to the Mars Valley it is possible to see Pucara de Quitor, an old fortress of the atacameños, native people of this area.

Includes: Tack and horses, guided excursion, entrance fees.

What to bring: Water, camera, hat, long pants, shoes with a close toe and heel, sun block, small backpack (just if it is necessary).

Day 3

LEJIA LAKE – Highlands of the Andes – Puna region

9.00 a.m. Pick up from the hotel.

We head off to Toconao, southeast of San Pedro to continue towards the highlands.

 

We travel by the Altiplano, arriving to the Puna, to visit the salty lake located on the Andes Mountains, at the feet of the Lascar active volcano. Time to enjoy the isolated place, and the awesome landscapes with high probabilities of see Vicuñas and many birds of the area.

 

Picnic-lunch during the excursion.

 

On the way back we stop to visit the Atacama Saltlake on Soncor area, to see the extremedly dry habitat of flamingos and small life of the place.

 

Optional, descend by bike from Talabre town (Cost: USD 25 total per two people).

Return to San Pedro around 16.00 hrs.

Day 4

Transfer to the airport. Private transfer, spanish spoken driver (1,15 hours of trip)

Not included: accommodation, bikes cost.

Reservations: For reservations we request payment of the 65% in advance at least 15 days prior start your program, balance 4 days in advance or cash upon your arrival.
